Overview
Your security system, point of sale and seed-to-sale connection are where compliance happens every minute the store is open. Regulators set detailed rules for camera coverage, recording retention, alarms, access control and inventory tracking, and every sale must reach the state's system accurately. A setup error means failed inspections, inventory that does not reconcile and staff fighting the software at the register.
We have set up these systems in our own stores and lived with them through audits and busy holidays. We help you choose vendors, design coverage, configure the POS and connect it to the state's seed-to-sale system, such as Metrc, so the store opens clean and stays reconciled.
Who this is for
- Licensees in buildout choosing security and POS vendors
- Owners who failed a security or inventory inspection
- Operators switching POS providers
- Stores with daily inventory variances they cannot explain
Problems we solve
Coverage gaps
Cameras that miss a point of sale, the vault door or the receiving area fail inspection.
Integration errors
POS and seed-to-sale mismatches create package, weight and category errors that grow every day.
Wrong vendor fit
Systems sold on features that do not match your state's rules or your store's volume.
Untrained staff
Even a good system fails if staff do not know receiving, adjustments and end-of-day steps.
How we set up systems
We design security and systems from the rules and the floor plan together, so every camera, door and register has a reason to be where it is. Before opening, we run test transactions from receiving to sale to return and confirm each one lands correctly in the state's system.
Then we train the people who will use it every day, with short written routines for receiving, adjustments, end-of-day reconciliation and what to do when something does not match. Most compliance problems we see in open stores start as small setup and training gaps.

Frequently asked questions
What are the main dispensary security requirements?
Most states require camera coverage of entrances, points of sale, storage and limited-access areas, recordings kept for a set period, an alarm system with monitoring, controlled access to restricted areas and secure overnight storage. Our security guide covers the common rules.
Which seed-to-sale system will I use?
The state chooses the system, and it differs from state to state. Metrc is used in many of our states, and New York moved from BioTrack to Metrc at the end of 2025. Your POS must integrate reliably with whichever system your state uses.
Which POS should I choose?
The one that integrates reliably with your state's system, handles your volume and is supported locally. We compare options against your needs and disclose any vendor relationship in writing before you choose.
Can you fix inventory variances in an open store?
Yes. We trace the source, correct procedures and configuration, and set a reconciliation routine. See our compliance audits and turnaround services for deeper work.
Do you install equipment?
No. Licensed vendors install. We specify, select, oversee and test.
How is this priced?
Engagements are scoped and quoted after a discovery call, based on store size and how many systems are involved.
How long should security footage be kept?
Each state sets its own retention period, and some are long enough to require significant storage. We size recording and storage to meet your state's rule with room to spare.
